Good food box program (1).png

The Good Food Box (GFB) is a not-for-profit-program under the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary whereby you can purchase fresh fruit and vegetables at a very low cost. The GFB is a hands-up program as opposed to a hand-out.

The GFB Mission is to make top quality food available in a way that does not stigmatize people, fosters community development and promotes nutritious diets.

What is the GFB?

We offer all Calgarians sustainable  access to nutritious food to ensure that no one has to go hungry. The boxes are put together and delivered by dedicated volunteers who along with the Community Kitchen desire to see individuals and families accessing affordable nutritious food.

Box Options:

Small Box                           $30                         20-25 lbs* of fruit and vegetables

Medium Box                      $35                         30-35 lbs* of fruit and vegetables

Large Box                           $40                         40-45 lbs* of fruit and vegetables

*All weights are approximate and will vary depending on produce size and density.

How Does it Work?

The boxes are delivered once a month to various depots in Calgary (a depot is where five or more boxes are ordered). Churches are often depots. Pathway Church / Cambrian is a registered depot. Your order is placed for a $25, $30 or $35 box, depending on the size of the box you choose. Each box contains the same mixture of food, though the contents change with each delivery.

How Does GFB Operate?

The GFB buys fresh top-quality produce in bulk, directly from farmers and wholesale clubs. Dedicated community service volunteers working in the warehouse divide up the produce into portions and put the Good Food Boxes together. The boxes contained the maximum produce in them for the price.

The Pathway Church, as a depot, is responsible for collecting orders and payment from the community and clients served. The GFB is delivered once a month and orders must be placed a week before they are scheduled to arrive.
